Present Future film announced today the release of their latest Fashion film, entitled Zan Dara. Commissioned by Italian Vogue and Diane Pernet for the upcoming A Shaded View on Fashion Film Festival, the film will be featured in the 1 minute light series in Milan.
Directed by Griffin, Zan Dara is an exploration of memory and experience seen through the mind and eye of a star in her twilight years. Loosely drawing inspiration from the Greek myth about vanity, Narcissus, the film examines memories of beauty, joy and pain associated with a life in front of the camera. Zan Dara unfolds through multiple perspectives of its star, 1952 Miss Stockholm and former 1950s top Vogue model and actress, Gita Hall.
The film can be viewed now on Italian Vogue website, let us know what you think : http://www.vogue.it/en/talents/vogue-video-lab/2010/07/zan-dara

“Nude” shades are everywhere this season, having dominated the spring/summer 2010 catwalks. Nude is the star colour is of this season. It took some time but finally we are seeing it in all its versions: makeup, mink, dusty pink, etc. The ladies wear, evening dresses, cocktail dresses, suits, etc is affected by warm fleshy tones of honey, creamy or pinky beige, soft nutmeg and pale caramel. These colours replace last year’s obsession with the neon brights of the 80s.
It is an essential colour for this summer and our favourite celebrities have already discovered it.
The nude tone is the new black. This colour has changed from slip shyly to our closets to a completely invasion. We have seen this new trendy colour on every single red carpet this year, as said before, black is losing against nude phenomenon.
Delicate nude shades come in everything from trenchcoats and leather biker jackets to sheer fairytale frocks to soft slouchy pants and shorter-than-short shorts.

From Chloe Sevigny and Angelina Jolie to Drew Barrymore or Eva Mendes, all these celebrities have worn nude tone this spring/summer. But my favourite nude style is Sarah Jessica Parker dress at the Met Costume Institute Gala 2010 in New York; the actress wore a shimmering pleated pinky-peach gown from the line, loved it!
Therefore what is best of this new trend is that this season’s non-colours provide a sound colour base which can transcend seasons, it is a timeless style.

We’re enjoying warm weather at the moment and with the school holidays around the corner the sun looks set to continue. Something really important to think about is what your children wear on their feet. The main consideration for children’s footwear are of course comfort; kids love to run around and they’re not going to enjoy themselves if their shoes are restrictive or uncomfortable. Style is another important factor, and for older children it could even be the most important due to peer pressure, fitting in with what they perceive as fashionable, etc. Other considerations include value and of course durability (even though children’s feet are still growing you need a pair that will last at least through the summer). Finding the right balance is key but what’s the best way to go about it?
Firstly remember some of the above factors can be sacrificed, for example if the shoes are not durable but they are so cheap you can replace them for next to nothing, durability doesn’t really matter. For this reason jelly shoes continue to be popular. They are great for kids to wear paddling as it stops them stepping on sharp stones in the sea. If the shoes are only to be worn for a short amount of time, ie plastic flip flops which are taken and only worn pool, or beach, side, it doesn’t matter if they are not that durable or fashionable as they are only worn briefly. Great summer shoes brands for children are Crocs or Start-rite .

When looking for a day to day pair of summer shoes for your child, boys sandals are great and you can buy a comfortable and good quality pair easily enough in the high street. It’s definitely best to take the child with you and have them walk around the shop in the shoes. They can then help choose a pair they consider trendy enough and you know they fit properly so should be comfortable.

Every woman wants to look great for a big event. This could be a party, a date, a job interview or even an important meeting. No matter how nice your outfit is, if you’re not comfortable with the way your figure looks you won’t be able to relax and enjoy yourself. The solution is shapewear: underwear that helps create the perfect figure and help you feel confident.
Many companies now make shapewear, including Spanx and M&S among others. Shapewear can include anything from control pants to bodysuits which take care of your bottom, thighs, hips, stomach and waist, providing all over support. The body areas you are most conscious of will help you decide which kind of shapewear to buy. In addition, the type of outfit you are wearing will dictate the best kind of shapewear. If you’re going on a date and want to wear your little black dress, consider a pair of high waisted control pants which will hold your bottom and stomach in. If you have a job interview or want to look great in a trouser suit or pencil skirt at work, consider mid-thigh length shapewear; it helps you look more toned without anybody being able to tell you’re wearing it but the confidence boost can make a real difference.

Once you try shapewear for the first time you’ll probably want to wear it every time you have a big event to attend, and many women say the confidence boost it provides is priceless.

Fashion draws inspiration from different times and ages. Whether this is a cultural tribal influence, for instance the Aztec ‘look’ has come about every now and then. Or we go back to modern looks such as the 60’s bohemian/hippy style attire. Of course this is always modernised and updated to fit in the current lifestyle and trends. One style (for footwear at least) that doesn’t show signs of ceasing is the Gladiator Sandals trend.

What is the history of the Gladiator Sandal?
They were favoured by Ancient Greeks and Romans, the style which consists of plenty of straps, were made to let air circulate between the gaps and prevent the feet from excessive sweating and dehydration. Sounds good to us on a hot summer’s day. The actual ‘Gladiators’ would usually fight bare foot and were used to fight to the death for wealthy folks amusement. No well off Roman citizen would be seen with bare feet, this would indicate poverty. Gladiator sandals were made in leather and the style worn by subordinate citizens, were plain and of a less quality material. Romans of a high status would have their sandals dyed red.
The Romans creation of the gladiator sandal is thought to be the very first rigid style shoe crafted. A stiff sole was attached to the foot by leather cords, straps, or braided thongs.
So why has this look been taken over by the modern day women. Well just like there practicalities for the ancient Roman, they have the same benefits for us. We wear sandals in this day and age to keep our feet cool and sweat free. We went through many years sticking to the thong strapped flip flop, with no proper support to our feet. Gladiator sandals tightly grip our feet, with support around our ankles and of course they look absolutely gorgeous.
