“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” Coco Chanel

Christmas gifts for the man in your life

It’s that time of year again when the nights draw closer but the shops are still open till late at night to accommodate the high amount of frenzied shopping going on. Yes, it’s the run up to Christmas. Perhaps the biggest stress for people during this busy period is the buying of the gifts for family and friends; it can be a difficult process with so much variety to choose from! It is even difficult when you have to buy for the opposite sex! It sometimes appears that men don’t understand what women want women don’t understand what men want unless blunt hints are dangled in front of their faces. Many people seem to believe that it is harder to buy from him than her. I think that men prefer practical gifts than one off novelty gifts. Many men would appreciate good mens Berghaus jackets to accompany them when opening their gifts on Christmas morning as it is many yet practical.

What other gifts are popular for him. For the more mature man I would have to say that aftershave and other types of fragrances are perhaps one of the most popular gifts for men. Why? They are perhaps something of a luxury and offer practicality as everyman uses them, or I should hope they do! Some of the most popular fragrances come from companies such as Diesel, Dolce and Gabbana and Hugo Boss and these companies offer excellently presented Christmas packages that come with a selection of different items in a special package. The other good thing about fragrances for men is that around Christmas you can find some excellent deals, especially at Boots.

Furthermore, men like to feel like men. Therefore, some typical guy gifts are always a hit at Christmas and there is so much on offer. There are many websites that are dedicated to male gifts and you can find anything from mini fridges for keeping beers cold whilst watching football to trips around the world’s football stadiums and even to paintball sets. As I have hinted before, football is a popular theme of Christmas gifts from him and will always go down a treat. The latest replica football shirts are always a good option with a personalised name on the back. However, please be warned that you should buy the shirt of the club that they support as you may have to put up with a disgruntled man on Christmas day!

It is obvious that every man will have different tastes and personalities but if you cannot find a special gift that is personal to that person then I feel that a fragrance set is the best Christmas gift for him on offer but there are so many other options for you to choose which means you will always find something ideal. So, as it turns out, men aren’t that difficult to buy for after all!

Invest in some thermals energy to beat the credit crunch!

As today was pay day I had some essential shopping to do for my children. My youngest child is about to turn one year old and he is a very active boy, even when he is in his cot asleep. Because he twists and turns so much at night I spend my time getting up to put back on his bedclothes, to save myself the bother I decided I would invest in some thermal nightwear for him.

I spent my lunchtime scouring the shops for thermal nightwear for children and much to my surprise and pleasure there was quite a good range available. I was able to invest in a few beautifully coloured and very warm and comfy thermal all in one night suits for my baby. Tonight I have put him to bed in a beautiful bright red thermal sleep suit, and hopefully he will have a warm and contented night’s sleep. Whilst I was shopping I also purchased some thermal vests for my other 2 children. For my daughter I was able to get some very pretty but practical thermal vests, one set pink with cream dots and the other grey with pink hearts, she was delighted. For my other son I bought plain vests but navy, grey and white. All in all I had a very successful shopping expedition for thermals. I also found some thermal socks and gloves for children and I invested in these.

We may be in a period of global warming that is causing strange weather occurrences, but we are now undoubtedly entering the chillier season. Many people, not just the elderly will find it difficult to heat their homes and keep warm this winter, for many it is a choice between heat and eat. A very practical way to keep warm is to invest in some Damart thermal clothing, not just underwear, there are many thermal items now available including thermal nightwear and socks, outerwear such as trousers and tops that are thermal lined, it is also possible to buy jackets and coats with thermal linings. It is still possible to buy traditional Damart thermal underwear such as long johns and vests but many of these have received the fashion treatment and are available in very attractive and bright colours.

Novelty or classic cufflinks?

Novelty cufflinks are the new novelty tie and offices up and down the country are full of men wearing shirts cuffed together by Micky Mouse or Bart Simpson. Whilst these cufflinks may seem like a good idea and a great way to show off your wacky character, in reality they really don’t cut the mustard!

Although being the office joker can be fun, this is best shown through whitty banter and the odd joke here and there. Many a decent shirt has been let down by completely inappropriate accessories!

No – it’s a fact that classic cufflinks are still the way to go. Nothing quite shows the elegance of male dress like a decent pair of cufflinks. Whether it’s gold or silver, a simple yet elegant pair of cufflinks works wonders in finishing of a man’s dress.

And so, remember next time you are getting dressed – classics are the way to go. No more Micky!
